Adding Group Members & Officials

Adding group members and officials

How Secretaries add members to a group, assign officials, and edit or remove member details.

Who can add members

Only the Secretary can add members to a group.

Adding a member

Adding a member

Members are added from the Members page, by tapping the contact FAB (floating action button) in the bottom right.

All that's needed is the member's name and phone number — they don't need to have the Kosalo app installed yet to be added.

When adding a member, you'll be asked to assign their role — Member is always the default.

When they sign up

What happens when an added member signs up later

If they sign up using the same phone number the Secretary added them with, their account automatically links to their existing member record.

Their contribution history carries over — nothing is lost or needs to be re-entered.

See Getting Started for more on self-registration.

Officials

Assigning officials (Treasurer, Chairperson)

You can assign a role directly while adding a member's name and phone number.

This can always be changed, as long as you're within the 48-hour window — see Roles & Permissions for details.

To assign a role to an existing member instead:

  1. Tap Edit on their member card.
  2. Select the role you'd like them to have in the group.
  3. Update the record.
Editing & removing

Editing or removing a member

Secretaries can edit member details if they notice a wrong entry after saving.

Secretaries can also delete a member from their group — this removes them from the current cycle onwards. If the member has any records or contributions, those are not deleted.

See Cycles for cycle-specific member changes.

What's next

Now that your members are added, here's where to go next.
